Musée Henri Tudor
At the Musée Tudor in the town of Rosport, everything revolves around electricity and accumulators. Visitors can discover the life’s work of engineer Henri Tudor, a pioneer in the development of the electrical grid who lived and worked in Rosport. Among other achievements, Henri Tudor made electric street lighting possible throughout Europe. Thanks to his invention, the city of Echternach became one of the first cities in Europe to have electrically powered street lighting.
The Musée Tudor offers a fascinating insight into the technology used at the time, including the world-famous Tudor accumulators.
Roman villa Echternach
The Roman villa near Lake Echternach, in the city of Echternach, reveals the remains of a luxurious Roman residence. Mosaics, baths, and underfloor heating provide insight into life during Roman times.
In addition to the foundations, visitors can also explore a Roman garden and a museum that presents daily life and the development of the villa.
Abbey Museum
The Abbey Museum in the city of Echternach, located in the beautiful cellars of the former monastery right next to the Basilica, provides an overview of the medieval scriptorium as well as the life and work of Saint Willibrord. It also highlights the important Roman villa and various remains from the history of the abbey that can be seen on site. In the scriptorium, books were written and illuminated in the 8th and 11th centuries and are now spread across Europe. They are displayed in the museum in the form of facsimiles.
